“Commander” is a creation by graphic artist @BasicAppleGuy, who also runs a blog under the same name. Using Apple’s SF Symbols library, he crafted a variety of wallpapers. SF Symbols is a downloadable font and glyph library developed by Apple, featuring icons of all Apple products.

By taking these Apple product glyphs, BasicAppleGuy cleverly arranged them into the iconic Command symbol found on Mac keyboards. The latest SF Symbols update and the accompanying Commander wallpaper — features products like AirTags, Mac Studio, Studio Display, iPhone 13, AirPods (3rd generation), and more.

This year’s design draws inspiration from the vibrant gradients used by Apple in some of its WWDC25 materials. According to BasicAppleGuy, the design incorporates six shades across the spectrum: greens, yellows, oranges, reds, purples, and blues.

The wallpaper is available in three versions. The “Day” version is the original, bright and full of energy. Its counterpart, “Dark”, introduces a funky neon tube effect that’s ideal for darker themes or night-time use.

Additional device versions of Commander are available for iPad and desktop on the BasicAppleGuy blog. If you’re drawn to these designs, you can download the full-resolution versions from this Google Drive folder. Each wallpaper is available in PNG file format, ensuring crisp detail and vibrant colour on any screen.
