OnePlus has announced a special Pac-Man Edition of the Nord 2. This new version of the company’s latest mid-range smartphone features design tweaks inspired by the classic '80s arcade game. However, beneath the new theme, the hardware remains identical to the excellent OnePlus Nord 2, which was released in July this year.
The Pac-Man enhancements are primarily cosmetic. The back of the phone features a small Pac-Man logo that glows in the dark to reveal a Pac-Man maze. Additionally, there’s a semi-translucent-themed case showcasing the iconic character alongside the ghostly antagonists, Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde. When you boot up the phone, you’re greeted with a dynamic Pac-Man-themed wallpaper—one of eight in total. The phone also features a Pac-Man-themed charging animation, and there are other retro, 8-bit-style touches such as redesigned icons for OnePlus’ stock apps and nostalgic notification sounds.
You may be wondering how to get these Pac-Man goodies on your own phone. Unfortunately, they’re exclusive to the special Nord 2 model, and OnePlus doesn’t officially distribute them for other devices. But since this is Android, sideloading these extras is an option. XDA member linuxct has extracted the Pac-Man Edition’s new wallpapers, boot animation, fingerprint unlock animation, and a host of themed items for everyone to enjoy!
