An Overview of HarmonyOS Next
HarmonyOS Next is Huawei’s streamlined operating system, developed on the OpenHarmony framework. Unlike its predecessors, it is no longer dependent on Android or Linux, and as a result, it does not support Android APKs. Instead, apps are designed using the Ark Compiler in the new APP format.
From a user interface perspective, HarmonyOS Next closely resembles HarmonyOS 4.0 and earlier versions. However, it brings significant improvements, including a 30% boost in performance efficiency, three times faster connectivity speeds, and a 20% reduction in battery consumption.
Developers can now access the HarmonyOS Next beta for testing purposes. If you’re based in China, you can join the beta program and experience this new operating system on your Huawei device.
