Early this month, the Chinese tech giant Huawei introduced its next iteration of its mobile OS, HarmonyOS 4, at its annual Huawei Developer Conference 2023. HarmonyOS 4 brings a major change to the home screen and lock screen, a new emoji pack with some animated emojis, a revamped notifications center, a Live Window (to take on Dynamic Island), and more. HarmonyOS 4: A Quick Overview
HarmonyOS 4 public beta is now available for premium Huawei phones such as the Mate 50 series, P60 series, Mate X3, and more. It will also be expanded to include a wider variety of eligible phones in the coming weeks. HarmonyOS 4 allows you to change the system font, device theme palette/colours, widget styles, lock screen clock, animated weather wallpaper, emoji wallpapers, and more.
Huawei has also introduced the Live Window, a pill-shaped small user interface intended to function similarly to the iPhone's Dynamic Island, offering quick alerts and notifications. Currently, it works with most of the system apps on Huawei phones. The feature isn’t limited to phones; it will also be available on tablets.
The new operating system also comes with redesigned, animated emojis. HarmonyOS 4 also has a revamped Notification Centre, as well as a number of new widgets and cards. Huawei’s Super Transfer station also receives a major upgrade; system-wide search gets improvements; better privacy and security; and more.
