The Nothing Phone 1 comes with a lightweight Android skin called Nothing OS. With a promise to receive 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates from the company.
Since its launch, the Nothing Phone 1 has received periodical updates. More recently, it has received stable Nothing OS 1.5 update based on Android 13.
Download Nothing OS OTA updates
To start with the installation process, first, you need to select the appropriate OTA update package for your device. You can download it from the following table below.
For each release, you’ll find two types of OTA update files: Full and incremental. The full update packages are recommended for manual installing. Whereas an incremental update package is smaller than the corresponding full OTA update packages, it can only be applied to an unmodified base.

Manually Install Nothing OS OTA Updates on Nothing Phone 1
Note: you must have at least 5GB of storage available on your device. before installing the update package.
Before you begin
1. Take a backup of your data:
This manual installation process won’t wipe your data, as long as the steps are followed correctly. But we recommend to take a backup of your data.
2. Check for updates:
Go to Settings > System > System update on your phone to check if the desired update is already available OTA.
Step 1: Install Android SDK Platform-Tools
So, the first step is to download and install the Android SDK Platform-Tools on your PC.
Ater, downloading it extract it to any convenient location on your PC. Doing this will give you the platform-tools folder, which contains some binary files.
Step 2: Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking on your device
Next step, you will have to enable USB Debugging on your device. Go to Settings > About phone > Software info > click on Build Number x7 times > go back to Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options > Find "USB Debugging" enable it.
Step 3: Boot Nothing Phone 1 in Stock Recovery Mode
Third step is to boot your Nothing Phone 1 in Fastboot Mode. To do this hold (Volume Down + Power buttons) of your phone. Then your device will turn off and boot into Fastboot Mode.
Step 4: Connect your Phone to PC and verify the Fastboot Connection
1. Connect your phone to PC via USB-C cable.
2. Now open the platforms-tools folder and press and hold ‘shift’ key and right-click anywhere in the folder and select ‘Open command window here.’ This will launch the Command Prompt.
3. Now check your fastboot connection by issuing this command below:
fastboot devices4. If you get a device ID by executing the command above, it means that your computer recognize your device successfully.
Step 5: Download the OTA package
1. Download the OTA package file of the Nothing OS on your computer.
2. Move the update .zip file inside the platform-tools folder.
Step 6: Enable ADB Sideloading in Stock Recovery
While in the Stock Recovery, use the Volume keys to select “Apply update from ADB” and press the Power button to confirm the selection.
Step 7: Use ADB Sideload to flash OTA update file
1. Now, enter the following ADB command in command-line window to sideload the OTA update on your Nothing Phone 1.
adb sideload "filename".zipIn the command above, you will need to replace "filename" with the actual name of the OTA package you’re sideloading.
2. After executing the command, the stock recovery will begin sideloading the OTA update.
3. Once the OTA update is installed, use the Volume keys to select "Reboot system now" option and confirm by pressing the Power key on your phone to enter the new build.
